Amazing Tutors and the Friendship Boulevard Foundation raise funds to help accelerate urgently needed progress for children in Whalley, North Surrey

Summer Day Camp Success begins with the Friendship Boulevard Foundation, Amazing Tutors, Simon Fraser University-Surrey, and the Government of Canada: 

$64 000 received to Operate a Government Priority Project for 2016. 

The Friendship Boulevard Summer Day Camp offers youth fun and unique experiences with an opportunity to explore the outdoors, meet new friends, discover new interests and create memories that last a lifetime. It takes place Monday through Friday each week during the summer for children in the Surrey area in need of an exciting, fun-filled and safe summer experience.  The children participate in theme-filled weeks with a variety of different activities, field trips and special guests to enjoy.  

This program is now in its 19th year of operation although it has run under the umbrella of a few different organizations throughout the years.  It is our first under the banner of Friendship Boulevard Foundation.  This year we are pleased to partner with Simon Fraser University in Surrey who is generously providing the space to us for the summer.  The Amazing Tutors' Children's Foundation is helping us raise funds to run the program.

The program began many years ago to meet the needs of children who were growing up in poverty and at risk of homelessness as families were struggling to make ends meet. We wanted to ensure that every child could return to school in September excited about their summer experience regardless of economic circumstances.

The majority of children come to camp at no cost as families are unable to pay even a modest charge for their children to attend.  We provide breakfast, lunch and snacks for the children as they utilize breakfast and lunch programs at school and parents are not able to provide any extras in the summer as their incomes do not increase.
Over the years our program has become a family affair with younger siblings joining older ones, neighbors, other family members coming out to join us.  One of the special features of camp is the Junior Leadership Program in which children from 11 years of age to 14 years of age are mentored by our Camp Leaders.

This ensures that the young people are developing skills that will be useful as they get a bit older and able to look forward to opportunities that will help them to develop capacity in their lives to move forward out of poverty.  One of the incentives for the children is that if they work hard -- do the best that they are able to and commit to positive involvement in the community that we will hire them when they turn 15 years of age.

For many years we have been fortunate to receive funding from the Government of Canada.  Their supportive program funds students who have been enrolled full-time at school during the year and are planning on returning to school in September.  We have been privileged over 19 years to see many of our Day Camp Leaders go on to University and graduate in medicine, health sciences, education, law, and numerous other. 

Each week we host between 60 to 80 campers, 13 Camp Leaders, 16 Junior Leaders and around 10 volunteers who come on a regular basis to be involved with the program.  The Government of Canada pays 75% of the students' salaries and we make up the balance through fundraising activities, sponsorships, donations from the community and through gifts in kind. Thirteen Camp Leaders receive a full-time job.

Amazing Tutors understands that not every parent has the financial sources to access the education that their child deserves.  We care about every child, rich or poor -regardless of culture, background, or religion.  We include all children!  That is why we assume a caring and supportive role in providing superior tutoring programs and services at an affordable rate.

We support the Amazing Tutors Children's Foundation -our registered non-profit division -to enable any students who need financial help to have access to professional tutoring services from certified teachers, talented tutors, Undergraduate and Graduate degree-holders.  Since 2005, we have thus had extensive experience with remedial and immigrant children.

Amazing Tutors Children's Foundation offers tutoring assistance to students from economically challenged families, and considers half-price payment for certain low-income couples or single parents, seeing this as our company's moral and social responsibility.  That is also why we provide to everyone superior tutoring programs at an affordable price.  We tutor most subject areas at most levels, providing our own manuals for Math and English from KG to Grade 12, with additional homework assistance.  For other high school levels and subject areas, we provide reinforcement individualized tutoring, using the students' own textbook and supplementary worksheets.

We, along with our qualified tutoring staff, run our non-profit tutoring programs out of our Amazing Tutors Centers.  In order to service the Surrey areas, we now provide tutoring in the Newton, Surrey area.  Every school has students in need of tutoring.  We would appreciate it if you could inform such students at your school of our existence.  Please call us for more information at 604-765-4099.  The possibility is endless, as you will be part of a greater movement to give every student the opportunity to be all that they can be.

Our faith in humanity permeates every sphere of our engagement with the community.  Through our Amazing Tutors Children's Foundation, we consistently transform shared resources into richer lives and a stronger community.  To support the homeless, we have handed out thousands of sunshine, shelter food packages, collected hundreds of warm blankets and jackets and delivered them to Vancouver and Surrey, British Columbia.  We also gracefully do our part to feed these same citizens.  In addition, our young students humanely contributed funds to feed starving children in Somalia through the International Relief and Development Fund.  We have donated several thousands of dollars to non-profit organizations that develop scholars. The founders of our non-profit society created the Amazing Children's Program to provide tutoring access for families with financial difficulty. Our program ensures that families are not restricted from access or participation in a reasonable variety of tutoring activities due to financial hardship. Families are provided with a mechanism for accessing our company's subsidies which incorporates confidentiality, dignity, privacy and easy access. Who is eligible? Through our Youth Leadership Development Program, our dedication to addressing and meeting the needs of our community's youth continues by developing their leadership skills.  We focus on charitable works, community service activities, education, fundraising and organized sports.  We emphasize the importance of leadership through education and teamwork.  Our Youth Leadership Development Program builds and instills confidence, cooperation, discipline, hope, and high self-esteem.

Amazing Tutors' Youth Leadership Development Program teaches children character-building life skills and encourages them to take on leadership roles throughout their lives.  For youths, employment and professional development require training through education.  This develops significant and critical life skills.  We provide students with an understanding of discipline, leadership, life, organizational and interpersonal skills.  We strongly believe in developing these skills to make students effective lifelong leaders and learners.  To that end, we focus on providing a structured Youth Leadership Development Program to cultivate their leadership skills, and build a foundation upon which to accelerate and enhance their life skills.  

By providing a caring, giving and inclusive community, our Youth Leadership Development Program promotes ideals of effort, respect and dignity in young people. We help our community's children become leaders.  Our intensive teamwork approach requires every participant to develop trust, build confidence and integrity.  We all give our best in serving the community with excellence while participating in our charitable volunteer events and programs.  To this end, we set consistent, focused and attainable goals for individuals and teams alike.

Our commitment to developing the entire individual is central to the goals of our Youth Leadership Development Program.  As part of that commitment, emotional intelligence plays a particularly key role to lifelong success.  By seeing the potential in our students, we teach students to recognize the potential in others, creating a context of compassion and mutual learning through attentive listening to others.  By developing these skills, we can learn how to give up the need to be right in favour of the ability to collaborate and seek out creative solutions to difficult problems.  By engaging the world around us, we embrace our courage and open our eyes to the potential we all have. The Amazing Tutors Children's Foundation is a registered non-profit society.  Our primary goals are to secure tutoring access for families with financial difficulty. We also support youth and families by providing free or low-cost community events and volunteering opportunities in Surrey. Lastly, we demonstrate commitment to helping individuals and other community-focused organizations by providing charitable donations.

It takes a lot of commitment to keep a volunteer organization like the Amazing Tutors Children's Foundation active and vital.  Our team's unwavering dedication to this cause is a testament to the character of each and every volunteer. With the help of so many committed volunteers, each Amazing Tutors Children's event has exceeded expectations in raising awareness and much needed money.   
People volunteer for many reasons and many feel rewarded by the good feeling that comes from volunteering.  While that reward is usually enough, we also believe in showing our volunteers appreciation by providing references and confirmation letters and hosting volunteer appreciation events.  We give thanks with our recognition program based on number of hours and years of service. The integral support and dedication of these selfless individuals drives our organization forward.​

Amazing Tutors, Safeway, and the Friendship Boulevard Foundation Spring Forward to End Hunger

When it comes to creating a culture of caring in Surrey, Safeway and its employees lead by example.  With their support, Amazing Tutors Children's Foundation and the Friendship Boulevard Foundation were able to pack one hundred shelter food packs with a banana, juice box, muffin, and an Easter twin-pack cake.  We then delivered these resources to Option's Hyland House, a shelter in the heart of our Newton Community.  As our Foundation offers opportunities to develop leadership skills to youth attending our programs, Safeway's leadership and contributions are an excellent example of people working together.

Amazing Tutors' Youth Leadership Development Program encourages youth of high school age to become actively involved in positive activities and outreach throughout the Surrey community.  Amazing Tutors aspires to build an international youth community committed to discovering who they are and the power to make changes that they can implement.  Our Youth Leadership Development Program fosters the desire and capacity to affect positive change both in their communities and own lives.
